When I heard Tori Tori’s voice I could see why she is nominated for a Boston Music Award, she has been putting in work in The Town, not too long ago she performed at the Boston Commons and I hate I missed it, I planned on going but had other engagements to attend to. Along with being an amazing singer and performer Tori Tori is also a producer and has created a lane of her own in the music space in Boston, I really like the different harmonious vibes I get while listening to her music. When I listen to her song called “Daily” right off the back I got a Erykah Badu vibe and that’s saying alot because Ms Badu is top tier. Back in May Tori Tori dropped a EP called “Pocket Knife” which is a beautiful piece of work, all 6 tracks keep you wanting to hear what’s next, what more can she do. I really rock with the record “Last Year (LAX)” ft. Notebook P a fellow musical peer from the city, this collaboration is amazing they should do more records together the pair together nicely, giving you funky R&B vibes along with a jazz feel that can get any room moving to the beat. Although I really like that record my favorite record off the EP is called “Places” where Tori says “Don’t mind if i focus on me, cuz I got places to be” basically she saying she don’t have time for the bs no more she has plans to do bigger and see bigger. The production in this one is what pulled me in from the start of the song and obviously her vocals just push it over the edge. Whoever is up against her in her category for that BMA has some serious competition because Tori is solidified as one of the best singers in the town in my eyes until proven otherwise.
