When it comes to r&b music, Ginga Soul is a artist who brings her own style to the genre. A mixture of r&b and neo-soul Ginga Soul has exploded on the scene giving the people amazing records, my favorite being “Karmic”. She says she keeps meeting the same person in a different body and she doesn’t have time for games. The production on this record is immaculate perfectly fitting her unique voice. The first thing I noticed about Ginga Soul was her raspy/mellow voice.
Ms Ginga Soul please tell us where you are from? And how did you get you’re start in music? “I’m from Miami, FL and I got my start in making music in 2014 i started writing after receiving encouraging words from my best best friend then in 2018 I started releasing on Sound Cloud.” Ok so you have some experience under you’re belt, it shows in the art, going back to some of her earlier work you can see the evolution of this amazing rising star. Ginga Soul is a unique name tell us how did you come up with you’re stage name and what does it mean? “My name means black ginger with a lot of soul it’s also a play on that saying “gingers don’t have a soul” haha” it’s always interesting to hear the origin of the names creatives give themselves, just let’s you in a bit on who they are.
Inspirational is exactly what Ginga Soul is so I think she accomplished that goal. Someone recently was speaking about pulling the trigger on you’re dreams and aspirations, and the black ginger with alot of soul did just that. After releasing two singles “Unfamiliar” and “Night Drive” she went on to release a full body of work a EP called “On My Mind”. Ginga Soul says she would love to collaborate with Giveon on a remix to “Unfamiliar” I could hear that and you never know that time might be sooner than you think. There are alot of really dope and talented artist in the r&b and neo-soul space, what makes you stand out from in that relm? “What makes me stand out is my writing style and my voice. It has this raspy purity to it and i feel it helps to delivery my messages in a way only i can do.” That it does, and again the raspiness is the first thing I noticed about you. Moving forward in 2024 what’s new for you? “I’m planning to release a lot more in 2024 and perform more and release visuals!”
Last month to start off 2024 on the right foot Ginga Soul released a new single “Give It Up” and i’m looking forward to much more. Taking a look at you’re catalog what is you’re favorite song you have recorded and why? “My favorite song so far is On The Low and its my favorite because I’m so proud of how I was able to articulate my feelings and in a way where I was understood and people could relate. I also love the adlibs and the flow switch ups.”
Tell us about the process of creating a amazing song or body of work, what is that like foe you? “Well, for me, it usually starts off with my beat searching and free styling to beats I find and then I go back and listen to the freestyles I did in my voice memos and i’ll pick whichever freestyle has more of a natural flow or I’ll also get a feeling that it’s a song I should actually work on. Then I listen to it pick out parts I like and build a song off those flows and melodies.” It’s a alot that goes into that process but it’s amazing to see how different artist go about it. To have the ability to do that on any level and then produce a solid piece of work is raw talent. The independent lane is filled with talented individuals like yourself grinding to be discovered, are there any independent artist you would like to work with? “There’s so many!! Akira Rae, Nathi, Victoria Jane, and Ashia Vu to name a few!”
Currently in you’re musical journey do you have any management or being represented by anyone at the moment? “I do not however, I am so blessed with a loving and supportive community of friends and people who want to help me.” That’s amazing that you have that support system, when the time is right I believe the right one will help open major doors for you. I appreciate you taking the time to bless us with some insight of who Ginga Soul is. Outside of music, what are you interested in? “Something I am interested outside of music is dancing! I would love to take a dance class!” Ay now if you bust out with some crazy choreography you’re brand is going to the next level for real its really only a matter of time. I will be watching the journey and I look forward to the next time we link.
If you are just now getting familiar with Ginga Soul you're in for a treat 2024 will be special!!
