Billy Escobar
I first came across Billy Escobar from KilTheArtist coming from the same circle in Boston Massachusetts Billy is a hidden gem amongst a town filled with rising talents across the New England area. The way Billy Escobar & KilTheArtist mesh is something special, they seem to feed off each other and bring a certain chemistry to the record that brings anything they collab on to life. The first song I heard from Billy is a record called “La Familia” ft. KilTheArtist. Billy tell us how did you get started making music? “I got started with music young. But back in 2014 me and my family had a music group called BOSS MUSIC WERKS (Kil the artist was apart too) . I stop doing music around 2016. Fast forward to 2021 I started taking it serious again and drop my first project “MONTE CARLO CAR CLUB: HUSTLERS MANUAL. I kept it going since then” so you and KilTheArtist been locked in for a long time and it definitely translates in the music. Taking a listen to you’re projects throughout the years I couldn’t help but notice a series you have going on with “Warriors” a play off the classic movie that released in 1979
What was the process like recording you’re latest project “The Warrior’s did it”? “This Warriors series was ill to put together. Step 1 was hitting up Ebuddha for the beats. His production was the soundtrack to this motion picture. It wouldn’t have came together without his contributions word. But other than that I just get the beats and write to em. Took like 2 weeks to complete.” the production on the project was A1 for sure, it all seemed to fit like a puzzle piece. From start to finish the project flowed effortlessly, from the production to the delivery and catchy metaphors along with some dope features throughout as well. “South Brazil” is one of my favorite records off this project, it gave me a old school 90s hip-hop vibe that true hip-hop conniesuers have come to love. When it comes to music that’s within this space I feel Billy Escobar is top tier, add Kil to that equation and you have a crazy talented duo I feel can hold their own against anyone coming from the town.
One record that shows the chemistry these two have with each other is “Movie Night” which is off the “Man Of Steel: Secret Orgins” where Billy has some crazy word play even referencing the legendary stable of Degeneration X from the widely known WWF from the additude Era. Tell us Billy how did u link with KilTheArtist? “Me and kil is family. We first cousins so our chemistry is effortless. We like yin and yang we feed off each other. Sword sharpen sword type thing” literally explained it exactly how I said and felt about the chemistry between you two.
So coming off of a strong 2023 releasing multiple albums, what’s new for Billy Escobar in 2024? “Just tryna keep elevating and pushing the culture forward. New music and videos coming this year. New sounds beats and concepts on the way” i’m sure there is alot of people awaiting new music from Billy along with alot of new listeners who are eager to hear what he has to say. Including more collaborations between Billy & KilTheArtist
As a artist on the rise many deal with countless situations that cause one to not be inspired, with that being said, what inspires you musically? “1 is to give my city (Dorchester Boston)a voice and let the world know we gets down too out here. 2 is to bring the real raw emotions and ignite feelings back to hip hop. 3 is seeing other artist keep chasing their dreams no matter what” igniting the feeling back into hip-hop is exactly what Billy Escobar is doing. No holds bars, I'm here for it. Lastly Billy what is the message you want to send to you're audience through you're music? “I want to put a lenses on my city let ppl know where I’m from
