Rapper Tay-K sentenced to 80 years in prison
Tay-K
Rapper Tay-K, real name “Taymor Travon McIntyre” famously know for his hit single called “The Race” was sentenced to 80 years in prison for the murder of a San Antonio photographer back in 2017.
When Tay-K came out on the scene his single called “The Race” quickly moved up the charts to number 44 on Billboards. The single had details of crimes committed by the rapper, which lead to a nationwide manhunt that eventually lead to his capture and conviction of murder.
Now at the age of 24, Tay-K has to deal with the reality that he will be in jail for the rest of his life. In 2017 McIntyre picked up Mark Anthony Saldivar and wanted him to take photos of him for a upcoming song. When McIntyre tried to rob Saldivar and was unsuccessful he shot him. Tay-K was 16 years old at the time of the shooting.

When are we going to change these type of behaviors and events happening in our communities? I completely understand, that McIntyre had a tough up bringing from the parents, foster care, and protective services. Somebody should have took the kid under their wing and helped him seeing how much talent and the bright future he had in front of him. Unfortunately in our communities these type of stories and issues are cycles waiting to be broken.
In 2016 McIntyre was sentenced to 55 years in prison for the death of Ethan Walker during a home invasion. 3 lives gone, and for what? Something needs to change and change fast. I thought maybe the judge would be lite on him considering his upbringing and childhood, and Tay-K has been in prison for a long time now he could have possibly changed.
Judge Stephanie Boyd seemed to think he needs more time to reflect and think about what he has done and change. As some people won’t have any empathy for this young man, I feel sorry for him, 1. because he has to live with what he has done to those two men and their families, and 2. Because the future he had is gone. Let this be a prime example to the young people who are thinking about engaging in illegal activity.
