Here we have Leroy Campbell, a versatile artist from New York who gives me that 90s and early 2000 hiphop era feel with a new school flava. Coming across his music I first listened to the project called “Durag Music Vol 1” which released in 2020. The project gives the listener feel good summer time vibes. When a artist uses samples you haven’t really heard many use I can appreciate that, especially in this day in age where the music industry is oversaturated with the same samples and remakes of songs well known.
Listening to the project it has a unique flow throughout the entire body of work. The album caters to a wide range of listeners from the get money dude, to the lovely ladies, to the hustlers. Although “Durag Music Vol 1” has plenty of dope records the record titled “Inwood” stuck out the most for me, it’s the overall direction of the record, i can hear a artist like Jay Z or Memphis Bleek on the record. You can tell Leroy Campbell drew inspiration for this song from his time in New York.
If I had to rate the project from 1-10 i’d have to give it a 8 not to mention the project has no features. As I said overall, the body of work deliveries on all aspects from the lyrics, overall topics, and the phenomenal production put into the project. A couples notables are “Home”, “I Just Wanna Chill”, and “Early Thou Shit”. Is it’s time for “Durag Music Vol 2”?
Leroy Campbell doesn’t stop there, when it comes to his catalog a few months prior to the release of DMV1 Leroy Campbell released “Love 4 All, Hatred 4 None” which consist of 18 tracks. I can appreciate the work ethic, you don’t see alot of independent artist drop projects with that many records on the project these days. From a futuristic vibe to some more chill vibes to some trap type vibes Leroy Campbell puts everything into this album.

In 2024 Leroy released his one of his latest singles called “10 Years Intrelude” where he speaks about life for him over the last ten years. This year 2025 Leroy Campbell has dropped a single and a new joint project titled “Torawna After Dark” on his youtube channel tap in with him and his music i’ll be watching the journey from here on out
