John Love
John Love is a artist residing in Atlanta, GA who is also under the mgmt of Starr Boss. As I take a look at John Love and his music his EP “Heart over Height” is a representation of pain music, “Out of Stocc” is my fav song off the EP where John says “N***a be happy that you startve or something” that's just how it goes everybody knows alot of times people want to see you do well but never better than them, it shouldn't be that way but what can u do. John Love gives u insights on how it is in the streets where he comes from. I really enjoyed the production on this project whoever is behind that needs more recognition for sure. As I listened to John's music I heard him speak about Foreign Exchange, trading crypto currencies is something I started learning in 2020 and although there is a lot of stigmatizums around it, it is very lucrative if you know what u are doing and get around people who have been successful in it so it was dope to hear him speak about it. Another record that stands out to me by John Love is called “Rhenia Told Me” which was released in 2022. Coming from the streets and knowing some of the knowledge that John has i think he could help change the narrative in these communities, if someone doesn't stand up to help the young ones who come after then who will?
Welcome to The Creators Room, we are excited to have you here, were we highlight dope artist and creators from around the world. This gives you're fans and potential new fans to get to know who the real John Love is.
Tell us about you're upbringing where u are from, and how you got started making music?
• I’m from Decatur, Ga. Wesley Chapel road to be exact. I didn’t come up the worse neither was it the best. I had to grow up faster than others. I always loved music. I have vivid memories of my mother and father playing oldies while driving on roadtrips up north. My brother jamming some Playa Fly, or my sister cleaning up listening to Lauryn Hill, and being in the trap with my uncles who had an eclectic selection of music that you couldn’t fathom. Even going to church, and hearing the choir sing like angels accompanied by the band who majestically make instruments speak English play a part in my wanting to make music. Music just been in me. So by the time resources became available I was in the closet recording until I was able to start being recorded professionally.
If you could Collab with anyone in the music industry today who would it be, and why?
• If I could collaborate with anyone it would have to be Wayne. I think his influence alone is generational. To witness in real time mixtape Wayne, and that is not to negate everything he did before then, which is also amazing, but for him to been shredding tracks for as long as he has is truly a testament to his greatness within the music realm. I would love to just see how he goes into the booth and records.
Tell us how you met you're mgmt Star Boss? How is that artist/ management relationship?
• I met Starr at West Georgia in a class. It’s hilarious because we both were rapping a Lil Wayne song together, and that’s how we were introduced to each other. We damn near inseparable together. Starr been with me ever since. That’s my Lefty for sure. 50 Cent could do a docu-series all the things we’ve been through. Solid. Play with her it’s going to get ugly. As manager she makes sure to keep me focused, and I’m very appreciative for that. She’s like an energy kit she keep me going. She always keep me situated despite having her own obligations outside of music, and I’m thankful. She gives it clear cut and dried. Always has my best interest , and is very observant so she puts me in position to win. She really the point guard on some CP3 going to make sure you get better every time type Shit. She genuinely gives a damn and that infectious energy spreads making you feel like you can take over the world.
What makes you different? As we all know alot of artist in this day and age fall into following the trends of what everyone else sounds like or are doing, how do u stand out?
• Yeah everybody sound the damn same now. It’s atrocious. I believe I’m different because of a lot of things. The main being how versatile of an artist I am. I can really give bars like we in a smack battle or something call Don Demarco. I can go melodic and sing about relationship issues. I can talk about spinning the block and being in the trap running up bands. I can speak on fatherhood and spirituality. I’m not afraid to be authentically me in whatever space I happen to be in at the time. I feel so many artist sound the same now because they are stuck portraying one image of themselves as if they are not multi faceted individuals.
What is your message you want to give to the world through your music?
• It’s ok to be you. You don’t have to keep up with anybody else’s pace or have to go in the direction they’re going because it’s trendy. It’s somebody somewhere who feels the exact same way that you feel and can resonate with you more than you could have imagined. Take pride in who you are, where you’re from, and how you were brought up. Everything that you experience throughout life is just a brick to your mansion, so build it up and show all the hard work it took to edify such a magnificent work of art.
What inspires / motivates you in music? Sometimes as a creative we can get writers block or just not be there mentally due to everything going on in day to day life and how the world is today, how do u stay motivated and creative ?
• It’s no secret. It’s no cheat code. You just have to keep pushing through regardless to beat a writers block. I try to find inspiration from every aspect of my life. If I bought my baby some ice cream and she smiles a certain way I’ll write about. If me and my old lady get into a viscious argument I write about it. If the same juug keep coming short every time I write about it. I think when we draw inspiration from our natural lives it deems more successful because your situation is synonymous to someone else’s. You can read a book, watch a movie, workout, get a good meal in a Restaurant, or even play the video game. Whatever makes you happy do it because there is a natural dopamine that is released off of pure happiness. That little bit of dopamine is all you need to break out of that writers cage. Most importantly don’t be critical of yourself have fun with it still.
If you could speak to young John Love who wants to pursue music, knowing what u know now what advice would u give him ?
• I would tell myself focus on the music craft and music business instead of being in the streets. Often times artist work and have to hustle to make ends meet as well as support their dreams. Some legal some illegal. I found myself throwing rocks at the penitentiary almost squandering the gift away God gave me away. Stints in and out of jail built character and forced me to wise up though I lost an invaluable amount of time that I can never get back. That time could have been used to do much more positive things besides sitting wasting in a cell. Know the business and importance of marketing correctly. I would also tell him relationships are the most important thing you can have. It’s not only what you know and can do, but also who you know and have lobbying for you in rooms that you may can’t be physically in. Pay attention to the people who everybody tend to overlook in the room. Build rapport with them those are the people who will die on that proverbial hill for you.
What's next for John Love? Any new projects in the works? Singles etc.
• You know I’m never not working. Definitely more music on the way, but right now we jamming Heart Over Height. That Shit there ride so smooth. I done had that on repeat everywhere I go. I got visuals on the way for a few songs off the project that I’m excited to present to world. Got some new shit with my brother Hundun so stay tuned.
Tell us about some of your other interest outside of music ?
• Does that question include listening to music too? I love the oldies and old school r&b. I enjoy spending time with my family, and raising my daughter. It’s really the highlight of my life to me right now. Team Girl-dad period. I love sports too all of them. I don’t even gamble, but my peoples ask me which team to go with, or what the score to the game is going to be, and promise you every time they listen they hit big. I spank shit in 2K, GTA, and Call of Duty. I’m team PlayStation.
Tell us about you're writing process? Are u the type to just hop on the booth and go off or are u more of a writer? Take us on a journey of how u go about creating new material
• I’m definitely more or of a writer nine times out of ten. Pen game crazy so most the time when I put words together I’m rapping like it’s me against the world, and I’m boxed in fighting out. I really do this shit. I usually get a spark of inspiration from real life situations too. I could see somebody at a bus stop, and find inspiration in their work attire. If I’m in the spot, and it’s loaded with work I might get to feeling like Frank Matthew’s, and talk that trap Shit. If I’m having family or relationship issues I’ll write about that. Don’t get it twisted I still rip shit off the top, but I respect the craft enough to do the work still. I think rappers come off the head too much now, and that’s why it feels like there is an influx of the same regurgitated style and sounds. When you write you’re going to have to revise it, recite it, make sure it has a certain fluidity, and really know and love whatever you create.
